Cameraman (videographer) and camera crew in Yerevan and Armenia filming tensions in Armenian Azerbaijan news videos from Nagorno-Karabakh area. Armenians both in Karabakh itself and in Armenia more than once or twice turned to the central authorities. They requested to transfer the NKAO to Armenia. The Armenian intelligentsia joined the cause: They sent telegrams and notes to Moscow. As a result in February 1988, Zori Balayan, together with his colleague, poetess Silva Kaputikyan arrived to Moscow to meet Mikhail Gorbachev. It was exactly on that day, February 26, when the delegates from Yerevan were supported by a million in the street. After listening to the petitioners, Gorbachev refused to transfer Karabakh to Armenia, promising to resolve the issue by “social and cultural reforms.”
