Two ways we can help

FOR BROADCASTERS AND ARCHIVES

Batch upscaling for series and archives

Batch upscaling for series and archives: Send a whole season or an archive drive and we process every episode in one run, with the same settings on each clip, so the series looks consistent. For commercial work, for example AI video enhancement for broadcasters, production companies and archives, we quote per project.

FOR PRIVATE CUSTOMERS

From Betacam SP tape to 4K

Footage from Russian archives that was recorded in PAL (720 x 576) usually arrives on Betacam SP tapes. Before upscaling, we digitize the tapes into 10-bit uncompressed files. This step keeps the full range of color and detail of the original recording. Then we apply AI upscaling to the digital files, so the picture gains resolution without losing the look of the original. This approach suits clients who want to use historical footage in a modern production and keep the archive standard of preservation.

What you receive

Our upscaling service brings vintage and archival video into the modern age. It preserves the past and meets today’s high-definition standards. Here is what we offer:

HD and 4K upscaling

Original Quality Preservation: We start with your original footage, carefully maintaining its essence and historical accuracy.

Advanced AI Technology: We upscale standard-definition masters (720 x 576) to HD and 4K UHD with AI reconstruction, then check every pass by eye.

Enhanced Viewing Experience: By improving resolution and detail, we ensure that the vital elements of the original scenes are more impactful and visually appealing to contemporary audiences.

Delivery formats

Flexible Formats: Tell us whether the footage is for broadcast, online or an archive master and we deliver in the codec and frame size that edit needs.

How AI upscaling for broadcast footage works

Submission: First, send us your original Betacam SP tapes or other formats.

Evaluation: Next, our technicians assess the quality and specifics of the footage and choose the best upscaling approach.

Upscaling: Then we upscale the footage with AI to HD or 4K.

Quality check: After that, each upscaled piece goes through quality control, so it meets our standards.

Delivery: Finally, we deliver the enhanced footage in the format of your choice, ready for use.

Working with US clients

The United States is our largest market, and 4K requests typically concern Soviet-era PAL material headed into documentaries and series. Send us the clip reference or your own file, the codec and frame rate your edit uses, and your delivery deadline; we confirm what the source can support and quote the upscaling on top of the license. The PAL (Phase Alternating Line) format

The PAL (Phase Alternating Line) format, with a resolution of 720 x 576, was standard in many parts of Europe, including Russia, during the late 20th century. Russia and most European countries preferred PAL because it provided better color stability and quality. This was crucial in areas where broadcasting equipment might be unreliable or susceptible to interference.

Frequently asked questions

What source formats can you upscale?

PAL tape masters from our own archive (Betacam SP, Digital Betacam, DV) and client-supplied SD or HD files in any common codec. We always start from the best master available; if we hold the original tape, we re-digitize it before upscaling.

Is AI-upscaled footage the same as native 4K?

No. Upscaling reconstructs detail from what the source recorded; it cannot add information that was never there. Our before-and-after page shows what to expect, and every delivery states whether the clip is native 4K or AI-upscaled.

What do you deliver?

4K UHD (3840 × 2160) files, color-corrected and mastered, in the codec you specify. Tell us the frame rate and color space your edit uses and we confirm what the source can support before we quote.

How much does upscaling cost?

Upscaling is quoted per project on top of the license for the clip. Licensing packages are listed on our pricing page; the upscaling quote depends on duration and the condition of the source.

Do you work with US clients?

Yes. The United States is our largest market. Message us on WhatsApp at +1 408 6000538 or email footage@tvdata.tv with your clip reference or file, your delivery spec and your deadline.
