Raw and authentic footage of Moscow “шпана” (shpana) — street youth of the late 1990s. This powerful visual record captures the restless spirit of a generation shaped by the collapse of the Soviet Union. This is The birth of new capitalism. Young men linger near courtyards, metro stations, and gray high-rises, wearing cheap sportswear and listening to early Russian rap and 90s pop. Their faces reflect defiance, humor, and uncertainty in an age of transition. The clip reveals the texture of real Moscow streets — cracked asphalt, graffiti, cigarette smoke, and the sound of a city searching for identity.
