What “royalty-free” actually covers
Royalty-free means you pay once for a defined scope of use — it does not mean unrestricted use. A clip qualifies for our royalty-free licence when:
- TVDATA controls the rights and clearances for the material (our own archive)
- It contains no restricted third-party logos, brands or music
- People and identities are either cleared, or the clip is marked nur zur redaktionellen Verwendung
- The use is not sensitive or an implied endorsement, and the footage is not resold as stock or templates
Lizenzpflichtiges Filmmaterial
When a clip needs limits on territory, term, media or exclusivity — or involves uncleared elements or a sensitive context — we license it rights-managed and tailor the quote to the use. This is also how we handle third-party material: footage that originates outside our own archive is licensed case-by-case, with clearances confirmed before delivery, so you always know exactly what rights you are buying.
4K, Restored & AI-Upscaled Archive Footage
We specialise in AI-upscaled, remastered and colour-enhanced historical footage, producing 4K masters from vintage tapes and archive sources. Native resolution varies by source — where material is not natively 4K, we state clearly that the master is a restored upscale. See our Upscaling-Service Und hochskalierte Standbilder for print-quality frames.
Footage for Documentaries & Productions
Producers come to us for material that mainstream libraries do not hold: an indexed vault of documentary-ready archive footage with documented sources, fast clearance and delivery within 24 hours — with an invoice for your production paperwork. The same licence covers broadcast, education, news and monetised YouTube use, so one clearance works across your distribution.
